Our client is looking to recruit a Safety & Training Coordinator to join the Maintenance team at one of their coal operations in New South Wales and demonstrate the key fundamentals of OH&S. Working for this highly reputable mining house, your sought after expertise will have immediate impact at this operation.

Some of your key responsibilities will involve:

Conducting risk assessments and audits to facilitate harm minimization strategies.
Compiling Training Needs Analysis for individuals.
Implementing a training plan on how you would prioritise training based on risk.
Continually improving the safety performance of all maintenance personnel.
Developing a training scheme for the training department.
Ensuring contract labour is appropriately trained for their tasks.
Understanding all site policies/procedures and developing them accordingly.
Coaching and mentoring others in adopting safe work practices and an awareness of health issues.

Experienced safety professionals, ideally who are trade qualified will require:

Qualifications in OHS and a Certificate IV in Workplace Training.
3-4 years working in a similar role (mining industry not essential)
The ability to build strong relationships with all personnel on site.
Experience in managing the safety performance of a maintenance crew (desirable)
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
The ability to demonstrate commitment and leadership.
A proven background in ensuring safety standards are maintained the highest level.
An understanding of the Coal Mine Regulations Act and the OH&S Act.
